A DOCUMENTARY SCREENING ON THE NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY (NDA)

Under the esteemed guidance of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar Sahib, Dr.Ramanjit kaur,Principal Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, karhali sahib, led a special initiative to organize a screening of a documentary film on the National Defence Academy (NDA) for the students. The event aimed to instill in students the core values of patriotism, discipline, courage, and a spirit of national service. The film provided an inspiring insight into the intense training and life of NDA cadets, leaving the students deeply motivated. Following the screening, Dr. Ramanjeet Kaur addressed the students, stating, “This movie is not just about the NDA, but about commitment to the nation.” She encouraged students to dream big and contribute to the country with pride and purpose. NDA EXAM SCREENING AND COMPETITIVE EXAM

A screening test for NDA exam was held at Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib (Patiala) on 25 july, 2025. A total of 14 students of 10+2 (Medical, Non-medical and Arts) appeared enthusiastically in the test. As under the able guidance of Directorate of Education SGPC sri Amritsar sahib, and college principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur it is an exquisite effort to get our students involved in preparations for competitive exams.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Under the guidance of Principal Dr Ramanjit Kaur, Department of IQAC and AICTE organised 10 days Faculty Development Program from 16th July 2025 to 26 July 2025. This FDP was for teaching faculty to enhance their ability to analysis the data by using statistical tools.
The FDP was inaugurated by Princiapl Dr Ramanjit Kaur who emphasized the importance of data literacy and interpretation in academic research and policy-making. In her inaugural address, she highlighted how data-driven decision-making is becoming increasingly essential in the digital age.
The programme featured expert sessions by renowned various resource persons. Participants were trained in various statistical tools and software such as SPSS,Excel etc. Key topics included:
• Descriptive and Inferential Statistics
• Data Visualization Techniques
• Hands-on sessions in SPSS
• Interpretation and Report Writing
Dr. Rajwinder Kaur, FDP Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the organizing team, the enthusiastic participation of attendees and the valuable insights shared by the speakers.
At the valedictory session, certificates were distributed to the participants who met the attendance and participation requirements. The event concluded with a positive response from all attendees, many of whom expressed interest in future such workshops.

EMPLOYABILITY AND LIFE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Under the initiative taken by Sgpc and the Directorate of Education in collaboration with Mahindra and Mahindra co. And Nandi Foundation, ‘Employability and life skills programme’ for girls has successfully started in the college. The placement cell and the IQAC cell of the college has made all the arrangements for the proper conduct of this workshop.Ms. Rubina Daniel, the Trainer from Naandi Foundation, will engage the students and provided valuable guidance to the students during these 7 days of the workshop (04-08-25 to 12-08-25). Students will be given valuable lessons on time management, money management, resume building and group discussions. They will be prepared for facing the interviews in future. Altogether, this workshop is a commendable initiative taken by SGPC.

DEBATE COMPETITION ON YOUTH AND TECHNOLOGY: SOCIAL MEDIA & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE”

As on 12 August 2025, Department of Commerce, Mangament and Economics organised a debate competition to celebrate International Youth Day under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur. In this event, Ms. Parneet Kaur, Ms. Rajdeep Kaur, Ms. Kanchan Bawa, Ms. Navdeep Kaur , Ms. Ravneet Kaur of B.A first year and Ms. Jaismeen Kaur, Simran Kaur, Mandeep Kaur, Ekamjot Kaur of B.Com first year presented their views on the topic Is Social Media Empowering or misleading the youth? And Can Artificial Intelligence replace the creativity of youth? At the end Dr Rajwinder Kaur appreciated the efforts of students and motivated them to take part in future events being organised by the department.

CELEBRATED INDEPENDENCE DAY

Department of NSS under the able guidance of principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur celebrated Independence Day in which poster making was held in which almost 50 students participated. The posters were later displayed on the notice board. Programme Coordinator Prof. Arshpreet Kaur appreciated the efforts of the students and motivated them to participate in such activities in future as well.

BOOK REVIEW SESSION UNDER READER’S CLUB

Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, English Literary Society in collaboration with Bhai Gurdas Library of the college organised a Book Review session under READER’S CLUB. Students of B.A- I,II,III participated in this. Ranjana from BAIII spoke on the book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki.Gurpreet kaur, a student of B.A. III gave review of the book ‘A train to Pakistan’ by Khushwant Singh.Harsangeet kaur, B.A I student discussed ‘Blue Umbrella’ by Ruskin Bond. Prof. Arshpreet Kaur, Head Department of English spoke on the importance of Book Reading for literature students.Ms.Manpreet Kaur, Librarian motivated the students to read the variety of books available in college library and ask them to come forward for weekly book reviews. Prof. Navpreet Kaur and Prof. Manpreet Singh,Ms.Rajrani were also present.

OPEN QUIZ COMPETITION

The Department of Political Science of Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, celebrated Independence Day by organizing an Open Quiz Competition for the students of Class +1, +2, and B.A. The students participated with great enthusiasm. At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur (Head of Department) and Prof. Sandeep Kaur Nirmaan appreciated the efforts of Prof. Sandeep Kaur for taking the initiative in organizing the departmental program.

INDCREDIBLE INDIA QUIZ

Sadhbhavana Diwas was celebrated in Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib under the mentorship of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur.
Plantation activity was organised with the help of Prof. Jasdeep Kaur, head Department of Physical Education , in the sports ground.
Also, an open quiz competition ‘ INDCREDIBLE INDIA QUIZ’ was held to promote student awareness of nation’s rich heritage.The event aimed to instill a sense of pride, curiosity, and awareness among students regarding the country’s historical, geographical, and cultural significance.
Students from various classes actively participated in the competition, showcasing their knowledge about India’s monuments, freedom fighters, festivals, languages, states, wildlife, and achievements in science and technology.
NSS Coordinator Prof. Arshpreet Kaur appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the students and highlighted the importance of knowing one’s roots in today’s fast-paced world.

WOMEN’S EQUALITY DAY

Under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, the Department of Computer Science at Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib celebrated Women’s Equality Day on 28-Aug-2025. On this occasion, BCA students prepared and presented PPTs highlighting the importance of gender equality, women empowerment, and the role of women in technology. This progressive step is in line with IIC (AICTE), reflecting its vision of promoting equal opportunities and active participation of women in technical education.

NATIONAL SPORTS DAY

The Department of NSS and the Department of Physical Education and Sports at Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib,jointly celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm and fervour. The event was organised under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, who extended her heartfelt support to the initiative that aims to promote physical fitness and national spirit among the students.

The celebration was graced by Dr. Kulwant Kaur as the Chief Guest, who delivered an inspiring address on the life and legacy of Major Dhyan Chand, the legendary hockey player in whose honour National Sports Day is observed every year on August 29. Dr. Kaur also highlighted the importance of moral values in shaping responsible citizens and sports persons, urging students to uphold integrity, discipline, and team spirit in all walks of life.
Prof. Arshpreet Kaur, NSS Programme Officer, also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the role of sports in personality development and community building. She encouraged students to participate actively in NSS and sports-related activities to nurture leadership skills and a sense of social responsibility.
Prof. Jasdeep Kaur, Head of the Department of Physical Education, shared insights into the department’s efforts in promoting fitness and sporting culture in the institution. Prof. Navpreet Kaur gave vote of thanks.
The function included competition of Tug-of -War where students of under graduate classes participated. Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Dr. Narinder Kaur,Prof. Jasmeen Kaur and Prof. Manpreet Singh, Prof. Rohit were also present.

MANAGEMENT GAMES

The Department of Commerce, Management & Economics of Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, organized Management Games on September 11, 2025, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event witnessed active participation from BBA 1st Year and 2nd Year students, who showcased their talent, team spirit, and leadership through various fun-filled yet knowledge-oriented games. The main highlights of the day were “Presence of Mind” and the “Rope Game”, which tested the students’ decision-making skills, coordination, and presence of mind in challenging situations.
The games not only provided entertainment but also enhanced creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork among the participants. Head of Department Dr. Simranjit Kaur appreciated the enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to continue participating in such activities that combine learning with enjoyment. The event concluded with cheers and appreciation, making it a memorable experience for all.

PROGRAMME ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

As per the great initiative taken by Secretary Education, SGPC – S. Sukhminder Singh Ji, and under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, the Department of Computer Science at Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, in line with IIC (AICTE), has successfully started 7-Day Traning Programme on Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with the Anudip Foundation.
The training programme (27-08-2025 to 03-09-2025) by Mr. Sunil Tanwar and Mr. Bhawani Shankar, will provide valuable lessons in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Computer Vision to the Students.
Students will also work on mini-projects, enhancing their innovation and problem-solving skills. This initiative stands as a commendable effort by Directorate of Education,SGPC to empower students with emerging technologies.

WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY

The Department of Commerce, Management & Economics of Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, celebrated Women’s Equality Day on August 26, 2025, under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, with great enthusiasm and fervor. The event, meticulously arranged and managed by members of the Commerce and Management Association along with final-year students, aimed to showcase the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Through engaging PPT presentations, thought-provoking skits, and emotive poem recitations, students effectively conveyed the significance of women’s rights and their role in society. Navdeep Kaur excelled with her first-position PPT presentation on “From Kitchen to Boardroom-The Journey of Women in Society,” while Sonam secured second position with her impactful presentation on “The Importance of Women in Education.” The event concluded with certificates of appreciation being awarded to the students, encouraging them to continue showcasing their talents and contributing to the pursuit of gender equality, ultimately fostering their personal growth and development.

IMPORTANCE OF BLOOD DONATION

The Department of English at Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College organized an insightful guest lecture on the topic ‘Importance of Blood Donation’ on campus today. The session was graced by S. Sukhwinder Singh, Coordinator of the Blood Centre at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, who served as the keynote speaker.
The event was held under the able leadership of Dr. Ramanjit Kaur, Principal of the college, and was coordinated by Assistant Professor Arshpreet Kaur, Head of the Department of English. The objective of the lecture was to raise awareness among students about the critical need for blood donation and to dispel common myths surrounding it.
In his address, S. Sukhwinder Singh highlighted the life-saving impact of voluntary blood donation and emphasized the importance of regular contributions to ensure a steady and safe blood supply. He also shared valuable insights into the process of blood donation, eligibility criteria, and the pivotal role that youth can play in this humanitarian effort.
Students actively participated in the interactive session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Prof. Navpreet Kaur and Manpreet Singh.

WORKSHOP ON BLOCK PRINTING AND STENCIL PRINTING

The Department of Fashion Designing at Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, organized a Workshop on Block Printing and Stencil Printing on 29th September, 2025 .The workshop aimed to enhance the creative and technical skills of the students by giving them practical exposure to traditional and modern surface ornamentation techniques.
The event was held under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ramanjit Kaur Ji, who formally addressed the students and encouraged them to actively participate in such hands-on learning activities. In her address, she highlighted the importance of integrating traditional textile arts with contemporary fashion trends, emphasizing how block printing and stencil printing not only preserve cultural heritage but also open up opportunities for innovation in the fashion industry.
During the workshop, the resource persons from the department provided live demonstrations of block printing and stencil printing with cut-out patterns. Students were guided step-by-step on how to prepare the fabric, apply fabric colours and execute different designs with precision. The interactive session allowed participants to experiment with their own creative ideas, resulting in a variety of beautiful printed samples.
The workshop proved to be highly informative and beneficial for the students, giving them practical experience and boosting their confidence to apply these techniques in their future design projects. The Department of Fashion Designing expressed gratitude to the principal for her constant support and motivation and to the students for their enthusiastic participation.

INTER COLLEGE TOURNAMENT 2025-26

Under the aegis of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Directorate of Education, the Soft Tennis Team of Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, participated in the Inter-College Tournament held at Multani Mal Modi College on 30th September 2025 and secured the Third Position.
The entire college staff and Principal Dr. Ramanjeet Kaur congratulated the students and Head of the Department of Physical Education, Mrs. Jasdeep Kaur, on this remarkable achievement.
